Servant of the Lake Lite — Mobile Walkthrough

Servant of the Lake Lite is Rusty Lake’s free mobile preview of the Vanderboom servant opening—the same story slice as the Steam Demo and itch.io PC build, packaged for touch screens on iOS and Android. If you play on a phone or tablet, this walkthrough follows the identical puzzle chain from coach curtains to the guest carriage finale while calling out where Lite controls, UI layout, or store naming differ from desktop Demo play.

Lite versus Steam Demo — what is the same

Rusty Lake markets Lite and Demo as the same 15–30 minute preview. Both include:

Lite does not add mobile-exclusive puzzles in the public preview. Differences are presentation: smaller hotspots on phones, pinch-to-zoom for environmental clues, and Android back-button behavior following platform norms. Before you start on mobile

1. Download Servant of the Lake Lite from the App Store or Google Play—publisher Rusty Lake, not third-party clones.
2. Skim how to play if point-and-click adventures are new; tap-and-hold often equals examine on mobile.
3. Optional: open the morning routine checklist in a second tab for gate tracking.
4. Completionists should read the easter egg guide before Aldous’s room if you want code 728, the black bird egg, and hint paper.

Walkthrough — arrival through contract

Coach and curtains: Tap the interior and curtains until you can look outside and exit the coach. This teaches examine flow—if nothing happens, try tapping edges of the curtain fabric rather than the window center.

Estate entrance: Meet the maid, listen to orientation, and explore the foyer. Sign the contract to unlock deeper house access. Doors stay gated by story beats, not keys—unfinished duties block progress.

Portrait safe (235): Locate the portrait lock near the entrance. Watch Aldous shake his pocket watch three times—each shake maps to a digit. Enter 2, 3, 5. On small screens, replay the animation closely; the portrait code puzzle page has a code-only reference.

Kitchen porridge chain

Head to the kitchen and gather wood, matches, pot, milk, oats, and sugar. Light the stove, cook porridge, and set it aside—you will return after berries unlock. If the stove will not start, recheck cupboards using the kitchen map and porridge puzzle page.

Aldous morning gates on touch

Enter Aldous’s room after optional easter egg prep. Read the 7:00 wake note, set the alarm, and begin gates:

1. Slippers and shaving — shave the earlobe, then clean the blood before Aldous advances.
2. Porridge with berries — feed the earlobe to the bird, get the key, fetch berries, complete insect berry holes (insect berries puzzle).
3. Exercise — mimic the toy soldier pose sequence.
4. Dress — equip shirt, vest, and bow in order.

Touch tip: if Aldous stalls after shaving, you almost always missed blood cleanup or berries—backtrack one room rather than hunting new items.

Guest carriage finale

Clear every gate, then proceed to the guest carriage scene—the Lite narrative endpoint identical to Steam. No further rooms unlock afterward.
